Achillea Beauty powered up by your exercise routine will clean up and renew your skin from inside

The increased blood flow to the skin during exercise can decrease signs of aging by clearing cellular debris out of the system. Think of it as cleansing the skin from the inside, says Dr. Jessica Krant, a board-certified dermatologist. In addition to providing oxygen, blood flow also aids the carrying away of waste products, including free radicals. Furthermore, a recent study published in the U.S. Dermatology Partners website (https://artofdermatology.com/how-exercise-affects-the-skin/) shows how the lymphatic drainage occurring during a workout helps remove toxins from the skin and prevent further damage.

Given this unique cleansing state of the skin during exercise, we have developed A drop of magic spray (we recommend applying it 3-4 times on a cleaned face in the first half of the exercise routine before significant sweating occurs) in order to support the clean-up process even further for evident benefits: skin rejuvenation, reduced wrinkle depth, increased hydration and glow. We are able to deliver such results due to the combination of intelligent, super ingredients in our range: PerfectionPeptide P3 and PhytoCellTec Malus Domestica, enhanced by Achillea millefolium extract. We’ll discuss each one of them below for hopefully a better understanding of their contributions.

According to an article (Skin Rejuvenation with a Biomimetic Peptide Designed to Promote Desquamation) by D. Schmid in the International Journal of Applied Science, the outer layer of the skin, composed of dead, keratinized cells, called corneocytes, provides the barrier against the damaging effects of the environment. Continual renewal of this top skin layer is an essential feature of maintaining the integrity of its barrier. Keratinocytes (the major cell types in our skin) undergo a process of proliferation followed by differentiation to new corneocytes. To maintain a constant outer layer skin thickness, the rate of keratinocyte proliferation is balanced by shedding of old corneocytes at the skin surface. This shedding is called desquamation and occurs by the degradation of protein links between corneocytes. The turnover time of the top layer of the skin is normally two to four weeks. Between 30-80 years old the turnover rate decreases about 30 to 50%. This means that the turnover time of the epidermis is increasing with age and desquamation is not homogeneous anymore leading to dry, wrinkled skin. This natural peeling requires the degradation of connections between corneocytes that are formed by cell adhesion proteins. A short protein sequence is essential to hold the cells together. A peptide was designed to promote desquamation. Tested in a placebo-controlled human study, the peptide PerfectionPeptide P3 (which we use in all our products) was found to reduce the epidermal turnover time to values typical for young skin. Peptides are normally of limited value as ingredients for skin care because they can hardly penetrate into deeper skin layers. But for interference with the natural exfoliation of the skin, a process that happens at the skin surface and is enhanced by the skin state during exercise, peptides are the perfect remedy for a natural rejuvenation effect without any skin irritation.

Research by Daniel Schimd(Stimulating Epidermal Regeneration with Plant-derived Stem Cells) in Cosmetics & Toiletries journal found that the stem cell extracts of apple and grape were found to protect and enhance the stem cell potential of epidermal stem cells. Formulated into skin care products, these ingredients could benefit skin by improving its regeneration abilities to normalize the barrier function and thus prevent or slow down the signs of premature aging. Under the influence of Malus Domestica stem cell extract, the skin’s stem cells retain their vitality longer and are capable of forming new tissue and renewing the skin. These plant derived stem cells are called PhytoCellTec Malus Domestica. We have incorporated them across our motion activated beauty range, as the increased blood flow at skin level coupled up with the other intelligent ingredient – PerfectionPeptide P3 – brings up the full potential of these stem cells to reduce reduce wrinkles in under 28 days, form new epidermal tissue and improve the vitality of stem cells (https://www.phytocelltec.ch/en/the-active-ingredients/phytocelltec-malus-domestica).
It is crucial to allow the skin to breathe during workouts and use products that are specifically formulated to be non-comedogenic and suitable for exercise. Hence Achillea millefolium has been included across our motion dedicated range as it:

  • acts as an antiseptic, fighting against infection-causing bacteria,
  • tightens the skin as a natural astringent, shrinking the appearance of pores and reducing acne,
  • soothes the skin with anti-inflammatory properties
  • acts as an analgesic to help with mild pain relief and irritations

Debra Jaliman MD Board-Certified Dermatologist mentions that whilst Yarrow has long been used in European folk medicine (particularly for internal ailments), research is diving deeper into Achillea millefolium extract’s topical benefit for skin, and the results are highly encouraging. Studies show this extract has antioxidant properties that can rejuvenate skin’s surface, leading to a more youthful appearance. Of particular interest is research showing that Achillea millefolium extract can fight factors that lead to visible skin irritation – essentially, that it is a calming ingredient.
