Our Ingredients

Wilderness is our most precious possession and it comes in an astonishing variety of species with over 370,000 flowering plants and almost 400,000 vascular plants. However 40% of these precious organisms are threatened with extinction, mostly due to loss of native grounds and climate change. Our ambition is to use Achillea beauty as a vehicle for environmental change by leveraging precious local resources that support and restore biodiversity.

We use yarrow in all our products due to its extraordinary properties (anti inflammatory, antimicrobial, moisturising, soothing, purifying and anti-aging) – it’s like a magic wand in the ingredients’ world. It is a plentiful Romanian (founders are both Romanian) plant that attracts hundreds of pollinators and butterflies and it’s also an amazing benefactor for increasing soils’ nutrients and acting as a fertiliser for trees. Its Romanian nickname is the mouse’s tail due to its resemblance to the little rodent’s back end, hence our logo is very much a reflection of that.

The Science

Science = Numerous studies and specialised books have empirically proved that exercise training causes adaptations in the skin blood flow response as well as in the cutaneous microvascular activity. Working out increases blood circulation which brings new nutrients and oxygen to the cells which improves cellular turnover, collagen production and the delivery of active ingredients. Whilst you’re being active, your skin is also working hard as the tiny arteries on the face open up allowing more blood to reach the skin’s surface and deliver nutrients which help fibroblasts (the collagen producing cells) work more efficiently. Pores are also open and as long as they are clean and unclogged, they are in the most receptive state outside your induced pore opening facial. There is no other time when the skin finds itself in such a profound circumstance and we want to leverage it. We are the first and only ones to do it.

Malus domestica (fruit cell culture extract is a patented liposomal preparation of apple stem cells derived from the ‘Uttwiler Spätlauber’, a rare Swiss apple variety. These apple stems ensure the longevity of skin cells. They succeed in delivering a revolutionary anti-aging performance for real rejuvenation. PhytoCellTec Malus Domestica was the first ingredient based on plant stem cells in the cosmetic market. It protects the longevity of skin stem cells, increases their vitality, combats chronological aging and improves the regenerative potential of the skin, which leads to less wrinkles and more skin firmness.

Hexanoyl dipeptide-3 norleucine acetate is a biologically active tripeptide that has been developed to reactivate the natural exfoliation process of the skin. This wonder ingredient is designed to target the most outer skin layer where skin’s recovery processes are taking place. And it is here that PerfectionPeptide P3 specifically breaks the bonds between dead cells at the surface of the skin. Peptides consist of amino acids and have the same chemical structure as proteins, but are shorter in length. These protein fragments perform multiple functions in the skin like activating wound healing, activating immune responses and regulating hormonal activities. These active molecules are beneficial for intercellular communication – for example when collagen breaks down, specific peptides are formed to signal to skin cells to build new collagen. Amongst some of its benefits are: speeding up cell renewal, smoothening the skin, hydrating intensely, refining skin texture and reducing wrinkle depth.

(Vaccinium myrtillus fruit extract, Saccharum officinarum extract, Citrus aurantium dulcis fruit extract, Citrus limon fruit extract, Acer saccharum extract – Alpha Hydroxy Acids transformed the modern cosmetic market. ACB Fruit Mix contains natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). A heavenly ingredient that performs miracles on the skin. It can fight off the signs of aging and dullness, apart from also being beneficial for sagging skin. Rose flower water comes with a heady natural fragrance that can reduce stress and soothe nervousness. It is actually like essential oils – but in a more diluted form. More commonly known as yarrow extract, is the extract from the whole yarrow plant, a type of flowering herb native to North America and parts of Europe and Asia. It’s a rich source of antioxidant flavonoids, phenolics, and various fatty acids that contribute to healthier-looking skin. Long used in European folk medicine (particularly for internal ailments), research is diving deeper into Achillea millefolium extract’s topical benefit for skin, and the results are highly encouraging. Studies show this extract has antioxidant properties that can rejuvenate skin’s surface, leading to a more youthful appearance. Of particular interest is research showing that Achillea millefolium extract can fight factors that lead to visible skin irritation – essentially making it a calming ingredient. Research has also shown that various compounds in this plant’s oil, particularly linalyl acetate, play a role in fading the appearance of dark spots. However, this compound is also a source of fragrance and can irritate skin and for this reason, we prefer the extract form of this plant instead of the oil.

A natural humectant, it preserves the elasticity and the firmness of the skin. With its moisture retention properties, it gives skin a softer feel, and more youthful appearance. It is one of the best natural moisturising components used in cosmetics.
